Topic: Sonoma Diet

This summer we are offering a First Place Wellness Program at our church. We will be following our First Place diet and exercise guidelines. Each week you may hand in your food log to me at the church or just send it to me by Email. Just go to mypyramid.gov and enter your foods into the food log there. You can send me the page with your entries and I will help to coach you on your food choices. You can also send me your exercise log from mypyramid.gov and I can help design a progressive exercise program for you if you would like.
We will be reading The Sonoma Diet by Dr. Connie Guttersen, R.D., PH.D. This diet is based on the Mediterranean diet which has been found to remarkably reduce rates of heart disease. Dr Guttersen "Americanizes" the Med. diet- as foods are introduced that we we commonly find in our supermarkets. We will be adding these foods called Dr. Guttersen's the "top ten power foods" to our diet. We will start with the 10 day wave 1 guidelines as we eliminate all sugar from our diet. After 10 days we will follow wave 2, introducing healthy, natural sugars into our diet.
The group meets Tuesday mornings at 9:30 AM with a weigh-in, nutritional information and a video that will help our focus to remain on Christ and not our weight loss efforts. Our address is: Northern Valley Evangelical Free Church, 7343 Gun Club Road, New Tripoli, PA.
